Happy New Year! With the New Year comes that exciting time when everyone is talking about their New Year’s Resolutions. Each year many American’s set resolutions that focus on their health. We here at Mountainlands Community Health Center would like to encourage the members of our community to kick off 2017 with an increased emphasis on health. Whatever you set as your resolution, remember these following tips to help you be more successful:
- Set small goals. Don’t expect to meet your resolution overnight-lifestyle changes take a lot of time and hard work. Setting smaller goals that lead to your overall resolution will help you be more successful and with each goal you meet you’ll be more motivated to reach your resolution.
- Keep it simple. Although your resolution may be a big lifestyle change, start with simple steps to get there. For example if you have a resolution to work out every day, and are currently not working out at all, you could start by parking farther away at the grocery store, walking around your block after dinner, and taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Slowly add more physical activity until you’ve reached your resolution.
- Just keep going. On your journey to improved health there might be times when you fall short. Be patient with yourself, and if you have a rough day keep on trying. The biggest key to your success is to keep trying and improving.
